Benalmádena is where our most citable case study sits. A family-run law firm in the town, serving international clients since the 1990s, had a dated WordPress site in Spanish only. Today it runs 44 pages in four languages, with on-page SEO, analytics, a contact form and WhatsApp — and it still belongs to them, not to us.
The municipality is three things at once. Arroyo de la Miel is where people live and shop all year. Puerto Marina and the coast live off visitors and foreign residents. The old village lives off those who make the trip up. A business that speaks to only one of the three leaves money outside.
In an area with this much visitor turnover, a website does one measurable job: making sure the person who walked past you can find you again later from a phone, with the menu, opening hours, phone number and address readable without pinching the screen.
We audited 242 businesses in the province. 68 had a broken website.
Between 1 and 25 August 2026 we checked 242 businesses across Málaga and the province one at a time. Not an estimate: a direct HTTP request to the domain, certificate status, DNS resolution and a port test from two separate networks.
The four faults that recur along the whole coast are a missing viewport tag (the site never adapts to a phone), a domain that only answers over HTTP so Chrome prints «Not secure», an expired domain already bought back by a reseller, and an empty or mis-encoded title in the Google result.
The Benalmádena one we did fix was the first of those with an extra layer on top: a serious firm, twenty-five years of international clients, speaking one language to an audience that arrives in four.
